Preceded in death by beloved parents, Jacob & Ida; son, Randy; first wife, Anita; and second wife, Shirley. Survived and will be dearly missed by son, Steve (Sally); daughter-in-law, Nancy (Roger) Roelofs; grandchildren, Rob (Kristy Reed) and her son, Jacob, Ann (Preston) Schrupp, Kerry (Cole) Bryan, and Dan; great-grandchildren, Robert, Dustin, Jacey, Tyler, Lucas, Hayden; brother, Fred; sisters, Irene Caturia, Ella Kleinart, Mary (DeVon) Bangerter; sister-in-law, Beverly Ryan; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was a graduate of Johnson High School and worked for the Great Northern and BNSF railroads for over 40 years. He was a proud WWII veteran and achieved rank of Sergeant Major. He escorted General Dwight D. Eisenhower and General George Patton to many meetings. Leonard had three main passions in life: his family, the military and the railroad. If there was anything someone needed, he was always there to help, whether it be for advice, for work, or just to listen and share words of wisdom. Service on Wednesday, February 15 at 11:30AM at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Avenue, St. Paul with visitation beginning at 9:30AM. Private interment at Union Cemetery. His family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. James Allen of Little Canada and the staff of Oak Meadows, Presbyterian Homes, and St. Croix Hospice for their support and compassionate care. They went above and beyond to make his final days happy and peaceful. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
