

"Monty", Age 83, of Maplewood, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 16, 2016. Born on May 4, 1932, in St. Joseph, MO, to Maria and Natividad Renteria. Monty graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1950 in St. Joseph, MO. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was honorably discharged. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 40 years in St. Paul, MN and was proud to be a lifetime National Association of Letter Carriers member. Monty enjoyed going to the cabin, watching baseball, and especially spending time with his family. Preceded in death by wife Amelia; parents Maria and Natividad; and brothers Efrain and Jessie Mendoza. Loving husband, father and grandfather. Survived by children Pam, Gene (Gayle), Isabel Marie (Michael), Gregory (Linda), Gary (Gail), and Terese (Steve); brother-in-law Art Renteria (Janet); sister-in-law Peggy Renteria; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Monty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Johns Hospital in Maplewood, MN for their care. Mass Of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, 380 Roselawn Ave., Maplewood. Visitation Thursday April 21 will be held 4-7 p.m. at Wulff Godbout Funeral Home, 560 W. Seventh St., St. Paul, MN. A visitation will also take place 1 hour prior to the Mass at the Church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Memorials preferred.
