Randy was born in St Paul, Minnesota on April 6, 1976, to proud parents, Linda and Bob Warn. Less than two years later his sister, Kristy, was born, making the Warn family complete. Randy spent his childhood largely on skates, playing youth hockey or pick up street hockey in someone’s driveway. He was athletic, competitive and driven. Kristy was always following Randy and his friends around, idolizing them and playing the same sport they were, long before women’s hockey was a thing. Randy would go on to graduate from Park Cottage Grove High School in 1994. After a brief stint at The University of Wisconsin -River Falls, Randy went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Concordia University. He spent the majority of his adult life working for Cigna and Cigna Behavioral Health as a claims technical analyst and trainer. After 19 years at Cigna, Randy made a move over to Prime Therapeutics where he worked for the past 4 years as a Claims Technical Analyst.
Work was never Randy’s passion. He was good at his job and enjoyed his co-workers, but he always saw working as a means to an end. Work so that you can enjoy the rest of your life. Work to live, not live to work. His passions were directed at sports, music, family and friends. He was active in playing softball and boot hockey well into his 30's. Fantasy football was always a part if his life, even prompting him to start his own league which is still active today. He loved discovering new music and going to concerts. In fact, there was a good 2+ year period when Randy made a mix CD once a month for his then girlfriend/future wife. He always knew which songs were the right ones to put on a mix, depending on who he was making it for. Randy paid attention to detail and was so good at reading the energy people brought with them. Family and close friends were the cornerstone of Randy's life and he loved spending time with them as much as he could.
In 2011, Randy married the love of his life, Anna Lloyd (now Warn). In 2012 they had their first child, Abigail Lynn and in 2014 they had the surprise of their lives when Anna gave birth to twins, Jack Robert and Matilda Grace. Randy was diagnosed with gastric cancer 6 days before the twins were born and lived courageously for 3 years and 25 days with the disease. He and Anna made the most of every moment they had together as a couple and together as a family of five. Randy did not lose this battle. He fought as long and as hard as he could until his body just could not fight any more. Randy passed away peacefully with his dog lying beside him and his wife holding his hand. He will be remembered for his smart ass humor, his calm demeanor and his quiet strength and confidence, as well as an amazingly loving husband, father, son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law and friend.
Randy is survived by his wife, Anna and his three children, Abigail (5), Jack (3) and Matilda (3); his parents, Robert and Linda Warn; his sister, Kristy Warn (Ty Krause) and his niece, Emerson (3); his grandfather, Ted Striny. Randy is also survived by his parents-in-law, Gary and LynnAnn Lloyd; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Mathew (Ashley) and Tim (Leah) Lloyd; and his nephews, Axel (3) and Kaden (1).
A celebration of his life will be held at 2PM Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave., St. Paul, MN, with a gathering of family and friends 2 hours prior to the service. A private family interment will be held.
