Born in St. Paul, MN, he spent his younger years in St. Joseph's Home for Children. In 1945, Tom was adopted by Suzanne (nee Waldoch) and John Albrecht. The following year, they adopted his younger biological sister Ruth (originally named Carol). He loved everything outdoors: football, baseball, camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, and ironwork.
As a teenager, Tom would spend weekends sleeping in the backyard with only a sleeping bag. He hunted moose, bear, deer, and small game in Canada, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. His ability to navigate woods, lakes, rivers, and roads without using so much as a compass was impressive and reassuring.
Tom worked as an Ironworker for nearly 30 years. It was interesting to hear the stories, shenanigans, and travels ironwork brought him, along with the knowledge he learned and passed on to his children.
Tom is preceded in death by his biological parents, adoptive parents, four wives, a son, and a daughter-in-law.
He is survived by his sons Tom Albrecht Jr, John Albrecht, and Ken (Krystal) Urman; daughters Donnette Williams and Tammy (Scott) Albrecht, sister Ruth (Pete) Silva, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Memorial at Wulff Funeral Home, 1485 White Bear Ave, St. Paul MN 55106 on Wed Jan 7. Visitation from 11:00 - 3:00 with memorial at 12:00.
