Abel was born in Sancti Espiritus, Cuba and was the youngest of 15 children. He immigrated from Cuba to the United States with his family in search of a better life for his family. Abel worked in a cigar factory in Ybor City and later was employed by Milroy Optical where he worked alongside his wife and other family members until he retired at age 62. He was a family man, a phenomenal example of what a father should be and loved his wife until he took his last breath.
