
HOLSTINGER, Alma Florez, died December 24, 2014. She was born May 4, 1925, the daughter of Eva Corral Florez and Anthony Andrew Florez. She was preceded in death by her younger sisters, Carol Florez Blank and Flavia Florez Preston and her brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Blank. Alma's life was centered on faith, family and friends. A lifelong Catholic, during the Lenten season it was not unusual for her to attend Mass every day from Ash Wednesday through Easter Sunday. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Alma was a dedicated homemaker, caring for four children and her husband. Alma made friendships in school days that still exist. She attended the Academy of the Holy Names School for 12 years. She graduated from Sullins College, Bristol, Virginia and Katherine Gibbs School, Providence, Rhode Island. Alma was an enthusiastic gardener and a past president of the Azalea Garden Circle. She was a charter member of the Henry B. Plant Museum Society, and the Junior League of Tampa. She was a Maid of the Court of Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla and a sponsor for the Merrymakers Clubs. She is survived by her husband of more than 64 years, Hal Holtsinger, her sons, Hal Holtsinger, Jr. and Clay Holtsinger, her daughter Cecilia Holtsinger Martin and husband Will, her daughter Mary Holtsinger Howell and husband Dan, grandchildren Mary White Martin, Lizzie Martin, Charlie Martin, Daniel Howell, Allie Howell, Brittany Holtsinger, Carley Holtsinger, Matthew Holtsinger and wife Lynsey, Kyle Holtsinger, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, December 27th at 10 AM. A visitation will be held Friday, December 26th from 5 PM - 7 PM at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 South MacDill Avenue. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make a contribution to the Academy of the Holy Names, 3319 Bayshore Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33629.
