

PITA, Antonio, “Ñico 94” The Cuban exile community has lost a pillar with the passing of Ñico Tuesday, April 5, 2022. Born at the Caxigueira, Galicia Spain, February 18, 1928, he worked the family farm until the age of 18 […] then sailed to Habana Cuba in 1946 to work at the family tobacco business Pita Hermanos SA. He later met the love of his life Conchita at the Centro Gallego in Habana. They married in 1958 and shortly after Castro seized the family factory and tobacco fields in 1960. Angel & Meca Oliva, their “parents in exile” urged them to move to Tampa in 1961. He worked & loaned the families Cigar trademarks to the Villazon Cigar Company for 43 years. They arrived with little but love and determination built a family and a legacy that thrives on today. Preceded in death by his wife parents Elias and Josefa and later Maria Pita,
brothers Jose R. “Pepe”, and sisters Antonia “Toñita” and Andres, and his loving wife of 60 years Concepcion. Survived by his sisters Manuela and Elena Pita of Spain, son Anthony, daughters Marcia and Mayra, son-in-laws Axel and Victor, grandchildren Alex, Cristina and Nina. Family, his children &
grandchildren were always his passion. He was one of the original founders and treasurer of the Cuban Civic Club. Anyone who knew Papi knew he was a man of few words compared to his chatty Conchita, but his eternal smile and kindness was infectious to all who knew him. Family will receive friends from 9:30AM to 10:30AM on Friday April 22nd, 2022 at Saint Lawrence Catholic Church 5225 N. Himes, Tampa followed by a mass at 10:30 AM and private interment at Garden of Memories. Arrangements entrusted to
