Born on August 15, 1950, Laurie grew up in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, where she built the foundation of a life filled with compassion, purpose, and quiet strength. She later embraced the Florida sunshine and made it her home for the past 40 years.
Laurie shared 57 devoted years of marriage with her husband, Jeff. Theirs was a bond built on love, laughter, and support. Together they raised their son, Tony Gracey, and she found great joy in being “Grandma” to her beloved granddaughter, Alexis Gracey.
A deeply committed nurse, Laurie dedicated her career to the field of geriatrics, where her empathy and care touched countless lives.
Laurie felt most at home at the beach. Whether walking along the shore collecting shells, listening to the waves, or enjoying a grouper sandwich at Frenchy’s, the ocean was her favorite place.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jeff; her parents, Shirlee Traver and Lee Clayton; her godson, Eric Peterson; her sister, Kimberly Wendt; and her brother, Bill Clayton.
Laurie is survived by her loving family: her son, Tony; her granddaughter, Alexis; her siblings, Lyle, Robbie, Mary, Michael, and Kathy; and her dear friend, June Partole.
Though she has passed from this world, there is no place we go where Laurie will not be with us—in spirit, in memory, and in love.
