Benjamin John Miller, a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, and cherished friend, passed away on November 20, 2023, in Tampa, Florida. Born on September 20, 1967, in Ithaca, New York, Ben was the son of the late Judith Ann (Minklein) and John Kennedy Miller.
Ben's life was marked by his passion for sports. A life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, the proximity of the University of Dallas to Texas Stadium actually played a role in his decision to attend the school where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Economics. After a short stint in the banking industry, Ben found his niche in the medical field. He parlayed his keen mind, a strong business sense and a willingness to work to improve the lives of others into a career spent helping medical professionals improve their business practices and deliver more effective care to their patients.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Ben was a devoted son, a great brother, and the “fun” uncle. He took no greater happiness than in the time that he got to spend with his niece and nephews. He enthusiastically shared stories with them about all the mischief that he and their fathers had gotten into while growing up.
Having grown up in Rochester, NY, Ben could not wait to leave the cold behind. After college his journey took him to Charlotte, NC, Washington DC, and finally Tampa, FL. Along the way he amassed a group of friends that would be the envy of anyone. Ben’s quick, broad smile and the gleam in his eye had a way of attracting people to him. He cared for his friends beyond measure and they, in turn, him. His life was full and rich thanks to the wonderful people he called friend.
Predeceased by his parents and grandparents, his younger brother, Greg Miller, and his Aunt Sharon Minklein, Ben is survived by his brother, Ted (Sue) Miller, his nephews John, Frederick and David, his niece Caroline, his Aunt/Godmother Jeanne Bozer, his Aunt Marge (Miller) and Uncle Jack Fitzgerald, his sister-in-law Angela Miller and his loving cousins.
A celebration of Ben's life will be held at the Blount and Curry Life Event Center, located at 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, Florida 33609, on Friday, December 8, 2023. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 am. A gathering will continue after the service, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and loved ones to come together, share stories, and honor the life of Ben Miller who loved his family and friends, the Holidays, dogs, the Dallas Cowboys, baseball, tennis, cars, the water, boating, sunsets and the next big idea. Ben was truly one of a kind and taken from us far too soon.
