Carl Russell Bowman, Sr., 83, originally of Findley Lake, NY passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Tampa, FL. He fought a good fight since his diagnosis with Pulmonary Fibrosis, but sadly succumbed to the disease.
Carl was born in Erie, PA on September 1, 1937, son of Max M. Bowman and Evelyn N. Sparling Bowman of North East, PA. He married his wife, Mary Birdessa Burdick, at Bemis Point, NY and lived a long life together. He served in the Army and was a USARAL Boxing Champion in 1959. He even won a Golden Gloves tournament in Erie, PA. Boxing is what he talked about the most, but he worked as a maintenance man at MFG for many years where he retired.
Carl Bowman is preceded in death by his parents Max and Evelyn Bowman, wife Mary Bowman and sisters Judy Bowman, Gloria Patternosh, Trudy Leeper, and brother LeRoy Bowman.
Carl is survived by his brothers Edward, Charles, Elwood, Larry and sisters Maxine, Edris and Darlene. His children Mary, Bev, Rick, Marlene, Carl Jr., Evelyn, Carla, Max. and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss him greatly and forever keep him in their hearts!
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2021 on Findley Lake, New York where his ashes will be spread.
