

Carmen Turón Derriso, adored wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away in her home on November 25th, 2024. Carmen was a remarkable woman that showed kindness and love to all. She was everyone’s friend and even more so, she was everyone’s mother or grandmother. There was never a moment she was not living her life to the fullest. In her truest form, Carmen was the life of the party.
Carmen was born on May 15th, 1938 to Josefa and Manuel Rodriguez Ventura. In July 1960, Carmen married and had her first daughter Angela in March 1961. She then moved to the United States in November of 1961. In 1962, she gave birth to her second daughter Maria. Carmen was a devout mother to both of her daughters. In 1977, Carmen became a grandmother for the first time. As matriarch of her family, Carmen’s daughters would continue to enrich her life with more grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren.
She leaves behind her daughter Maria Derriso and her seven grandchildren - Norman Abbott III and wife Laura, Michael Ewing and wife Paige, Christopher Abbott, Aysha Vazquez and husband Esteban, Tara Mirza and husband Josh, Mishelle Ewing and wife Kelsey and Elisabeth Gardner. She had six great-grandchildren - Logan Bell, Noah Vazquez, Everett Ewing, Zola Vazquez, Norman Abbott IV and Clare Carmen Abbott.
Carmen was preceded in death by her mother Josefa, father Manuel, brothers Felix, Julio and Damaso, her late husband James Horn and her beloved late daughter Angela Gardner.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation, church service and Celebration of Life. The visitation will be held on Thursday, December 5th, 2024 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Blount and Curry Life Event Center 605 S. MacDill Avenue in Tampa, Florida. A dedicated church service will be held on Friday, December 6th, 2024 at 10:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church at 821 S. Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa, Florida.
Following the church service, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life luncheon at the Clubhouse of Fair Oaks Condominiums at 3809 N. Oak Drive in Tampa, Florida.
