

99, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2016 surrounded by her loving family, and will be dearly missed. Mrs. Simón was born in Tampa, Fl. and resided there until the age of 93, when she moved to Marietta, GA., to be closer to her sons. Mrs. Simón was valedictorian of her high school class and graduated Cum Laude and was a Delta Zeta at the University of Alabama in 1936. Upon graduation she taught school before marrying Eugene Simón in 1939. After raising her four children, Mrs. Simón went on to have a stellar career as the Chief Circuit Court Counselor for Hillsborough County. After retiring, she and her husband Eugene enjoyed traveling extensively before his passing in 2004, after 65 years of marriage. Her hobbies included dancing, painting, bridge, golf, aerobics, and reading. She was a dedicated member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Tampa for almost 40 years.
Mrs. Simón is survived by Gerald Simón and wife Elaine of Smyrna, GA, Robert Simón and wife Mary Jo of Marietta, GA, and daughter Carolyn and her husband John of Pinckney, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene, sister, Margaret, and son, Eugene. She is also survived by her grandchildren Lee Yarber and wife Amy, Christopher Yarber and wife Theresa, Lisa Price and husband David, Julie Stevenson and husband Michael, and Paul, Joe, Stephen, and Michael Fosselman. She was also blessed with ten great grandchildren.
Additionally, she is survived by a niece and nephew.
A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00AM at St Patrick Catholic Church, 4522 S. Manhattan Ave., Tampa. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society.
