

61, of Tampa, Florida passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020. He was born and raised in Tampa and graduated from H. B. Plant High School in 1976, before going on to graduate from the University of Florida as a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. Charlie began his medical career in 1982, in Tampa and was an owner of Precision Orthopedics, Inc. He was involved with the organization, Operation Walk that took him to Cuba, Guatemala, and El Salvador to help those in need of orthopedic hip and knee replacements. Charlie was a huge fan of the Florida Gators and had the honor of playing for the Gators as a wide receiver. His love of football continued all his life and provided many years of joy attending Gator and Tampa Bay Buccaneer games with his family and friends and mentoring young football players. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting in various places throughout the United States. He particularly loved hunting in Palatka, Florida, where he had a family hunting camp for 12 years called The Ponderosa. Another love of his was skiing in Utah and Colorado and fishing the Tampa Bay waters with his family and friends. He was a true wine connoisseur and had an extensive collection of favorite wines he discovered during his many visits to the wine country. His love of music and the festivities that surrounded music developed into many annual weekends away with friends and family to attend the Wanee Music Festival featuring classic rock jam bands. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and The Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Marie Mirabella. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Marie Mirabella of 31 years; daughter, Lauren (Adam) Whitehurst; sons, Michael Mirabella and Matthew Mirabella; grandchildren, Parker and Quinn Whitehurst; siblings, Sam Mirabella, Jr.(long-time companion, Pam Stine) and Shelly (Tom) Lightsey; nephew, Jack; niece, Simi; and many cousins and friends. There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 8th from 2-5 PM at Blount and Curry MacDill, 605 MacDill Ave. A Catholic funeral mass will be conducted at Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 S. Dale Mabry Highway on Monday, March 9th at 10 AM followed by a reception in the MacLaughlin Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Charlie’s most beloved charities, the Wounded Warrior project, Feeding Tampa Bay, or Metropolitan Ministries.
