Cody Benjamin Cummings, age 30, of Tampa, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2026. He was born September 29, 1995, in Tampa, Florida. Cody graduated from Sunlake High School in 2014, worked as a cook at Carrabba’s and was a gifted musician whose passion for guitar, songwriting, and live music brought joy to many. He especially loved The Grateful Dead and spent many happy hours enjoying the music of Uncle John’s Band, a local Grateful Dead tribute band. He also loved karaoke, often performing with his Aunt Phyl. Beyond music, Cody loved jewelry-making, skateboarding, and was a tremendous foodie who delighted in discovering and sharing great food.
Cody is survived by his beloved daughter, Eliana Rose Cummings; Eliana’s mother, Barbara Cummings, of Cullowhee, North Carolina, with whom he shared a lasting bond of love and friendship; his devoted mother and dearest friend, Wendi Cummings; his aunt, Phylis Zaborek; his uncle, Billy Kline of Philadelphia, PA; and many extended family members and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Stan Cummings, in 2016.
Known for having one of the kindest, gentlest and warmest hearts anyone had ever encountered, Cody had a rare gift for making people feel accepted and understood. He moved through life with compassion, humor and a soulful spirit. His bond with his mother was one of laughter, friendship and deep loyalty, and his love for his daughter was unmistakable. It seemed that Cody never met anyone who did not instantly love him, a reflection of the openness and joy he carried so naturally.
Those who knew Cody will remember his chill vibe, his love of music, his warm heart and the peace he brought to others. Though his life was far too short, the love he gave and the lives he touched will endure.
