It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cody Land Whigham, born on October 13, 1998, in Tampa, Florida. Cody left this world too soon on July 19, 2025, at the age of 26. He spent his life surrounded by love and laughter, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cody was the cherished son of David Land Whigham and Kimberly Jean Whigham. He was a loving brother to Ainsley Addison Whigham and a beloved grandson to Judith Hall Woodward. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Roger Whigham and John Woodward, his grandmother Betty Whigham, and his faithful dog, Champ Whigham. The warmth of his family's love will continue to be felt by all who remember his bright spirit.
Cody’s adventurous spirit led him to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he dedicated three years to the Ridley (87-foot Patrol Boat) in Panama City, Florida, and spent three additional months at the Clearwater Air Station. His commitment to service and his country was unmatched, embodying the values of loyalty and courage.
An avid outdoorsman, Cody found joy in fishing, hunting, and spending time by the beach. His love for the water was matched only by his passion for lacrosse. From fifth grade until his freshman year in college, he played on various teams, including the South Tampa Sticks, The Clash, the Tampa Tarpons, Plant High School, and the Florida Atlantic University club lacrosse team. His competitive spirit and camaraderie on the field brought him lifelong friends and cherished memories.
Cody was also a proud member of Sigma Chi at Florida Atlantic University, where he made lasting friendships and connections. His personality was a beacon of light; he was incredibly loyal, always the "yes-man" ready for the next adventure. His remarkable ability to connect with people, even in fleeting moments, left an indelible mark on their hearts. Whether it was a quick chat over a dart board or a deep conversation about life, Cody had the unique gift of making everyone feel valued and heard.
