

84, of Tampa, passed away February 2, 2018. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 21, 1933. Don attended Roosevelt, Wilson Jr High, Plant High School, and graduated from Sewanee Military Academy in Sewanee, TN. He attended the University of Florida, where he became a lifelong Gator fan and joined the ATO fraternity. He served in Korea with the U.S. Army and came back to the Tampa Bay area where he joined his family’s meat-packing business, as Vice President of Tarnow Foods. He then opened his own meat company, Tarnow’s Portion Foods. Don was an avid golfer and helped sponsor the Tarnow Golf Classic at Innisbrook for many years. He was a past member of Palma Ceia Golf & Country Club and a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul & Bernice Tarnow; brother, Tommy Tarnow; brother-in-law, Mark E King; sister-in-law, Polly L Tarnow; and niece, Shannon King. He is survived by brothers, Paul Jr, of Tampa, Jerry (Kathleen), of Port Orange, FL; and sister, Carole King, of Tampa; nephews: Paul Tarnow III, Scott Tarnow (Patty), Mark King Jr, Rusty King (Cyndi), and Ty Tarnow; nieces: Dolly Tarnow Dannewitz, Melinda Cashin (Greg), and Tobie Helms (Adam); and many great nieces, nephews and friends . A visitation will be held Sunday, February 18th 2018 at Blount Curry Funeral Home 605 S MacDill Ave from 2-4pm p.m. Our family will conduct a private, graveside service at Florida National Cemetery where Army honors will be conducted. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to LifePath Hospice of Tampa.
