

He was born in Gainesville Florida and grew up in High Springs, Florida.
Gene went to the University of Florida on a football scholarship and was a proud fighting Gator until he was injured.
He is survived by loving and supportive wife, Jillian Hartman O’Steen. He adored his three daughters: Gina O’Steen and husband Brian Knauer, Jada O’Steen and Jana O’Steen.
Grandchildren Kyle and Conner Knauer, Cori and Ward Brueggeman and Taylor Ferraro. Niece Kimberly Feazell and other nieces and nephews.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents Wm. Aquilla O’Steen and Gertrude Jones O’Steen, Siblings Bernice O’Steen, Carlton O’Steen, Howard O’Steen and Millie O’Steen Dantschisch.
Gene came to Tampa in the 1960’s was a successful entrepreneur in the bar and real estate business. Gene was strong, intelligent, brilliant man and with an amazing sense of humor. Rarely taking time for himself and when possible, he loved watching the water from his home with Jillian and dog Heidi.
Service will be April 25, 2022, 11:00am at Southside Baptist Church -3911 W Bay Ave, Tampa Fl 33616. Following there will be a Celebration of Life at 1:00 pm held in the Speak Easy at Blount & Curry Funeral Home – 605 South MacDill Avenue, Tampa, Florida 33609
Interment will be held graveside on April 26, 2022, at Forrest Grove Cemetery - 22432 NW 78th Ave, Alachua, FL 32615
Pallbearers: Scott Feazell, Todd O’Steen, Joe Diaz, Steve Cohen, Jason Martinez and Greg Brueggeman.
