Gaspar Prida

PRIDA, Gaspar Lorenzo, 48, went to be with the Lord and Savior on July 8, 2012 peacefully at Melech Hospice House surrounded by prayers and family. A life-long resident of Tampa, Gaspar attended Christ the King Catholic School and graduated from Tampa Catholic High School in 1981. Diagnosed with a tumor at the age of 11, Gaspar’s family was told he would not survive past his 13th birthday. His life was a testament of God’s love and he touched the lives of everyone around him. An altar boy throughout his youth, Gaspar was called to serve at the mass of La Caridad del Cobre every year. He was a member of Catholic Outreach Resources and Evangelization Ministries and was an aide for Mrs. McIntosh at the CCD program at Christ the King Catholic Church. Gaspar was a deeply loved parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He has been an active member of the Tampa Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group since the age of 15. The family wishes to thank LifePath Hospice for the tremendous care they provided during a difficult time. Gaspar is survived by his mother Julia Martinez, father Carlos Prida, stepfather Modesto Martinez, sisters Julia Day Prida and Arelys Prida, niece Danielle Day and nephew Eaon McQuade as well as many cousins. A visitation will take place on Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30PM at Gonzalez Funeral Home. A funeral mass will then be celebrated on Wednesday July 11, 2012 at 1PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3012 W. Cherry St. Tampa, FL 33607 with interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4207 E. Lake Ave Tampa FL 33610. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Gaspar’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church CCD program for children.
