Gerry Struthers Hunt

Gerry Struthers Hunt (born April 4, 1930, died September 12, 2025) was born to Harold Struthers and Florence Burger Struthers in St. Petersburg, Florida. She attended Gorrie Elementary School, Wilson Middle School, and Plant High School in Tampa, Florida. She also attended Florida State University, where she pledged Pi Beta Phi. She married Frank Richardson Hunt and spent the rest of her life devoted to her family and friends.

Gerry’s life was marked by dedicated service to others, especially in the Tampa Bay area. She was a long-time member of Hyde Park United Methodist Church and the Junior League of Tampa. She also served on the board for the Family Services Association and the Tampa Art Institute, and she was an active member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, Tampa General Auxiliary, and Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Additionally, she was a beloved member of Palma Ceia Golf and Country Club, Tampa Yacht and Country Club, and Highlands Falls Country Club.

Her family remembers her enduring strength and grace, matched only by her generous heart and caring spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Richardson Hunt, and her precious animals Nappy, Mangy, Killer, and others. She is survived by her brother Leon Struthers; her children Frank Richardson (Kelly) Hunt, Jr., Bruce Edward Hunt, and Holly Ann Hunt; her grandchildren Ross (Ruth Anne) Hunt, Cameron (Jeremy) McNabb, Christine Colburn, and Taylor Colburn (Sergio) Mesquita; her great-grandchildren Gabriel Hunt, Sophia Hunt, and Arden McNabb; and her extended family, Max, Sharon, Isabella, and Kate Polo, the Trayner / Richardson family, and the Corral family.

Funeral services will be held at 1p.m., Sunday, October 19 at Hyde Park United Methodist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hyde Park United Methodist Church (Residing Hope fund) or the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
