MARTINEZ, Helen, 89, of Tampa passed away May 3, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse in 1999. She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Gurry and husband Bill of Georgia, Elaine Wilkinson and husband John of Tampa, and Nancy Warner and husband John of Georgia; grandchildren, Matt Gurry, Sean Warner, and Kelly Wilkinson; several nieces and nephews; and her many friends at Bayshore Presbyterian Apts. Born and raised in Tampa, Helen was a 1946 graduate of Hillsborough High School and worked many years as a bilingual assistant for the Hillsborough County School System. Helen could often be found cheering on the Tampa Bay Rays, Gators, and enjoying a good game of Bingo. A graveside service will be held at 11am on May 6 at Centro Asturiano Cemetery, 5400 Martin Luther King Blvd, Tampa. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia Society or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospitals.
