

Hornbuckle, James 'Nelson', 40 of Tampa passed away August 9, 2014. Survivors include his adoring parents, Wally and Cathy Peters of Tampa, brother, Jacob Peters of Tampa; sisters, Cassie Peters of Tampa, Annie Hornbuckle of North Carolina, and Angie Bondhill of Virginia; grandparents, Pete and Bernice Peters of Virginia and Elizabeth Nelson of North Carolina; godmother, Ruby Nelson of North Carolina; and many other extended family members and friends. Nelson was a 1992 graduate of Jefferson High School, and despite the challenges he faced with cerebral palsy from birth, he was proud of his 14 years at Home Depot(Dale Mabry/275), working in customer service. His love and dedication was rewarded with many outstanding customer service awards. Nelson was equally dedicated to his many years practicing Tae Kwon Do & Crossfit. He began at a young age with Master Moon at Moon's Academy. With the passing of Master Moon, Nelson began workouts with Sparta Academy and Master Diaz, with whom Nelson had trained in his younger years. The family wishes to give their sincere gratitude to Master Eric Diaz of Sparta for his hours of dedication, love and support over these past years, enabling him to "walk". He was a diehard Yankees fan and a Buccaneer season ticket holder. Family will receive friends from 6-9 on Wednesday, August 13 at the Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Oldsmar/West Hillsborough Chapel, 6802 Silvermill Dr., Tampa. A funeral will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 14 at the funeral home followed by interment at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park, Clearwater. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Sparta Academy, 14915 N. Nebraska Ave. Tampa, 33613 in Nelson's memory.
