88, of Tampa, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, at Tampa General Hospital. Joanna was born and raised in Tampa and graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1950 and the University of Tampa in 1952. She married her husband of 67 years, Joseph R. Mangione in 1953. They were founding members of Krewe Sant’ Yago, Ladies of the Crown, Las Damas, The Italian Club, and Christ the King Catholic Church. She and her husband really enjoyed traveling, cooking, holidays with her family. Her greatest love was being surrounded by her adoring family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Jennie Massaro; her son, Carl Alan; brother-in-laws, James Thedford and Tony Mangione; and sister-in-law, Thelma Mangione. She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Mangione; sons, Sam (Sharon) Mangione, Joe (Melanie) Mangione Jr; grandchildren: Christopher, Isabella, and Emily Mangione; sister, Sandra Thedford; nieces: Leslie (Dennis) Manelli, and Deanna (Ronald) Kimble, nephews: James Thedford, Dean (Janice) Mangione, and many cousins. There will be a visitation on Tuesday, July 28th at Christ the King from 9-10am, funeral service at 10am, and entombment to follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers: Christopher Mangione, grandson; James C. Thedford, nephew; James J. Thedford, grand-nephew; Dean Mangione, nephew; Dean Mangione, Jr., grand-nephew; and Dennis Manelli, nephew.
