

John Mark Carter (age 76) passed away on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025. He was born on October 21, 1949, in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He moved to Tampa, Florida in 1972 where he resided until his death. He was predeceased by his parents: Laura Winnifred Carter and Reverend Robert Earl Carter, brothers: Robert Eugene Carter and James David Carter. He is survived by his daughter, Crystal Johnson, his sisters: Bonita Davis and Elizabeth Ackerman, his nephews: Kevin Davis and Wesley Ackerman, his niece Wendy Kanar (Norm), their children: William, Alexander, Daniel, and Catherine and many cousins. When John was about to be drafted into the Vietnam War, he instead enlisted and was assigned to the Army Signal Core. He served three years and obtained the rank of sergeant. He went on to work for (GTE) General Telephone & Electronics, which later became Verizon as an equipment technician for 43 years. John will be remembered for his corny sense of humor, telling dad jokes, and his love of computers and electronics. He was an avid photographer, especially when it came to nature. He enjoyed playing board games and sudoku and solving puzzles and riddles. John also liked going to amusement parks, fairs, carnivals, and Renaissance festivals. His favorite restaurants were Chick-fil-A, IHOP, Outback, and Kobe’s.
