John is survived by his mother and father, Patricia and Novin Sibson; his children, April Stroup, Kandra Gannon and husband William Gannon, Kaitlyn Sibson and husband Logan Eagen, and Kristen Sibson; sister, Lori Cooper and her family; grandchildren, Tyler Mulder and Garrett and Bryson Gannon; and many loving cousins.
John was born on April 30, 1961, in Suffern, New York. He attended Suffern High School and Rockland Community College. He graduated from RCC in 1981 with an Associate’s Degree and immediately entered the United States Navy. He proudly served for four years and was honorably discharged in 1985. While stationed in San Diego, California, he met and married Wendy Stroup and began raising his daughters April and Kandra. After moving back to New York, John began working for S&S Fire Suppression as a fire sprinkler designer. He realized he had an aptitude for drafting and loved this profession. It is at this job that John met Milissa Sibson and in 1993 they moved to Florida. In 1995, they were married and over the next several years welcomed daughters Kaitlyn and Kristen into their family. John and Milissa started their own fire sprinkler company in 2001, Coast to Coast Fire Protection, Inc., and John was actively involved as President of the company until his passing.
John was a great athlete who loved playing tennis, skiing, and hiking. In high school he was captain of the lacrosse team and throughout adulthood he played on multiple softball leagues. He was a devoted volleyball dad and never missed a game. He liked watching sports and documentaries on TV and listening to podcasts. He was handy, enjoyed remodeling, and could fix anything. He also enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and board game playing, but mostly he enjoyed catching up with the lives of his four daughters. He was proud of each of them and their various accomplishments. John’s children remember him as a kind, driven, playful, funny, courageous father who encouraged them to pursue their goals and supported them in all their endeavors. John also loved to socialize with people, and he would do anything to help someone in need. John was smart, witty, and dedicated, and he loved debating politics with friends, family and co-workers. He was passionate and knowledgeable about many topics. His personality was larger than life and he will be greatly missed by all who had the fortune to know him.
The family will be having a private service to celebrate John’s life. Condolences for the family members can be sent to BlountCurryMacDill.com. In lieu of flowers, if you so choose, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
