

Joseph honorably served in the United States Air Force before starting a career with Southern Mill Creek Products Inc. In 1985, he entered the manufacturing business, founding J.Fowler Inc./Florida Sprayers, which he retired from in 2009.
Joseph devoted more than 57 years of his life to the Florida Free and Accepted Masons. His Masonic journey was marked by leadership, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to the fraternity he loved. As a Perpetual Member of Lodge 153 PTF United, Joseph served as Worshipful Master of Fellowship Lodge 265 in 1974 and continued to rise through the ranks of the Grand Lodge of Florida. His distinguished service included roles as Junior Grand Warden, Senior Grand Warden, Deputy Grand Master, and ultimately, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Florida. He was also a Past District Deputy Grand Master and proudly served on various Grand Lodge committees, including Finance and Accounts, Jurisprudence, Properties, and the Masonic Home Board of Trustees. His lifelong dedication was honored with service awards recognizing 25, 40, 50, and 55 years of membership.
Joseph’s contributions extended beyond the Blue Lodge to affiliated Masonic bodies, such as the Shrine Temple in Tampa, the 33° Scottish Rite Valley of Tampa, and the Tampa York Rite. He was also a distinguished member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 89. His leadership and gentle guidance left a lasting impression on all who had the honor of serving alongside him.
Joseph was an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, spending many hours in the Ocala National Forrest and Texas.
Joseph was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Peggiann Fowler; his son, Joseph C. Fowler II; his parents; and his brother, David.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Gloria Castetter (Wayne) and Justine Carter (Barry), as well as his grandson Logan Carter, granddaughters Kristy Allgood(Joe), Angel Khammassi and Kayla, and great-grandsons Riley and Benjamin Allgood. He is also survived by his former wife and friend, Betty Earnhardt.
Joseph will be remembered as a devoted Mason, a proud veteran, a respected leader, and a loving father and grandfather. His legacy of service—to his country, his fraternity, and his family—will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

A gathering of family and friends will take place Friday, December 12, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 pm. After the service, light fare and refreshments will be available.
Additionally, a Masonic Celebration will take place at the Masonic Home of Florida, 3201 1st Street NE, St Petersburg, Florida, on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
