THINKING OF MY GUY TODAY.
MISSED AND LOVED ALWAYS.

I know this is late but I'm still dealing with the realization that my neighbor is gone.  

I live across the street from Justin and moved in with my Mom after my Father passed.  I would usually see Justin working in his garage, working on his house or walking his dog.

I would stop by from time to time just to check in on him and see what he was working on.  He was always a joy to talk with.  I was just so used to seeing him and it took several weeks for me to realize that he was no longer here.

Recently, he had just purchased an E-Bike and I was giving him a hard time about that saying that we grew up pedaling our bikes.  He took it in stride and went on to share with me how he wanted to take a journey on his E-Bike.  His plan was to take it down to Miami on the Brightline and then ride it all the way back up.  He was trying to convince me to get an E-Bike as well and invited me to try his.

Next thing I know is I get back from a business trip and see some people mowing his lawn and when I mentioned this to my girlfriend, she was able to find this obituary. 
Shortly afterwards, I went my dentist appointment up on US1 and he asked what was going on in the neighborhood.  So I shared about Justin's passing and he was in shock also.  He lives on Cruiser and talked about how he would see you walking your dog around and that you were a patient there.  

We're all in shock and can't believe you're gone.

I'm so sad.  Sad for his parents as you NEVER expect for your children to pass before you do.  Sad for the neighborhood because we've lost a good person who helped make this a good place to live.  Sad for his friends and family because if my casual interactions with him are any indication, he was a really good person who must have been a good friend and family member as well.

I don't know what happened to you Justin but I wish you were still here with us and I want to share that you are already missed and will continue to be missed.

I came to know Justin over the past couple of years through morning dog walks. We shared the same walk schedule, and although I didn't know his name at first, I was always greeted by Justin's radiant smile, his waving hand, and his voice across the street as he yelled over, without fail, a warm: "Hey, Good Mornin'! Beautiful day!" My initial and instant impression of Justin was that he exuded pure joy, and his daily greetings indeed filled ME with joy as well, no matter what my mood was before running into him across the street. For this reason, when describing my daily dog walk encounters with Justin to my husband, I'd say things like, "...and then that happy guy showed up, and I felt better." The remarkable thing is that, although I didn't learn his name and have actual conversations with Justin for months of our mutual dog walk schedule, I immediately and always regarded him as "my joyful friend". Seeing him in the morning was like glimpsing a sun beam, even on a rainy day. One day, many months after we'd say hello from across the street as our dogs pulled us past, Justin's Lab, Dude, and my Basset, Ben, decided to pull us across the street, and while the dogs wagged and said a proper hello to each other, I was privileged to finally learn Justin's name, and we talked for a while about the ocean, boating, dogs, Dory Road ...  That night, I told my husband, "I finally talked to that nice guy with the Lab. He's Justin, and his dog is Dude, and he truly is the nicest, most joyful person I've met!" After that, Dude and Ben and Justin and I would sometimes meet in the middle of the street to talk for a minute, and seeing his smile and hearing the joy in his voice was like saying hello to sunshine itself. Although I didn't know him very long, he will be profoundly missed every morning. I suspect that he had that effect on everyone.

Justin was an amazing person, so positive and always smiling and  making me laugh, I just saw him recently and was so saddened to hear of his  passing, so unexpected. He will be missed, my deepest condolences to his family, he was surely loved by all. Miss you buddy.

My husband, John, and I were neighbors on Dory Rd N who had the good fortune of seeing Justin on a daily basis. We were just crushed to hear of his sudden illness and passing.  We adored him and miss his always cheerful, sunny demeanor and his beloved trusty side kick, Dude, who our little Jack Russell had a rivalry with! :-).  Justin really made this neighborhood feel like a neighborhood: caring for those you essentially live with. I can honestly say there is a void that is very noticeable  when I drive into the neighborhood these days. I invariably would see Justin in the distance walking Dude waving his peace sign to me. Now I catch myself thinking it’s Justin when I see someone else in the distance walking their dog. 

He was truly a breath of fresh air and John and I feel blessed to have known him.  RIP Justin. We won’t forget you.

Justin was so beautiful, inside and out. He was the ray of sunshine that we all needed. His joyous laugh is irreplaceable. I miss him so much. Sending love to his family and a big hug for Dude. ❤️
