Kevin Michael McKenney, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He was born on March 10, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Bernice and Donald McKenney.
A longtime resident of Sarasota, Florida, Kevin made his home there for almost 40 years. On September 14, 1974, he married his beloved wife, Rosemary, in Conyers, Georgia. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three cherished children.
Kevin dedicated his career to banking and financial planning, working at Northern Trust until his retirement. Kevin’s “retirement” did not last long and he continued to do wealth management for clients for many years after his Northern Trust days.
Kevin loved outdoor adventures. He and Rosemary spent the early years of their marriage sailing, hiking, and camping. As their family grew, Kevin shared his love of the outdoors with his three children through family bike rides, trips to the beach, camping trips, and other adventures. He was a lifelong learner and amassed a book collection over the years that speaks to his love of history and economics.
Kevin also volunteered his time to help others through many local organizations, including Little League as a baseball coach of his son’s teams; Guardian Ad Litem, and Catholic Charities.
Kevin is survived by his wife, Rosemary McKenney; his children, Christopher, Erin, and Kimberly; and his siblings, Randin, Steve, and Kate. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Nathan, Owen, Maddie, Sebbie, and Max, all of whom will forever cherish his memory.
