Kitty W. Bunn.,91, passed peacefully on October 18, 2022. Kitty was born on April 2, 1931, in Greeneville, TN. After growing up on the family farm, Kitty attended East Tennessee State University as a Business Major, where she met the love of her life, Stan Bunn Sr. Soon after, Stan and Kitty were married and began pursuing the American dream.
Always a fierce competitor, Kitty entered the business world when women were not considered equal. While fighting for Woman’s rights and equality and through many hardships, Kitty persevered and eventually teamed with Stan to start their own company, Crest Pharmaceuticals Inc., where they developed several successful products. After a long and prosperous run in the small-batch Pharmaceutical industry, they decided to change careers. They entered Real Estate once again as a partnering team, complimenting each of their individual strengths.
In 1970, they procured their first 26-unit office building at the three-point intersection of Henderson, Himes, and Swann, known as the Crest Business Center, where they provided numerous opportunities for young entrepreneurs looking to get their first start in business. For the next 30 years, Stan and Kitty bought and sold numerous commercial and residential properties throughout the Tampa Bay area. Kitty continued this path of excellence until her and Stan’s retirement in 2005.
In addition to Kitty’s business pursuits, she was also a master gardener, a tremendous cook, an avid reader, and loved to journal. Kitty was God-centered and always looked to the Lord for guidance.
Kitty’s family includes her four children, Jeff Bunn (Marguerite), Corby Bunn, Teresa Bunn, and Stan Bunn II (Deidre), all of Tampa. In addition to her four children, her legacy includes her beloved seven grandchildren, James Bunn (Ashley), Ashley Bunn (Matt), Amanda Bunn-Parker, William Bunn, Hayden Bunn, Reese Bunn, Lynde Bunn, and seven great-grandchildren, Ava Pfleiderer, Austin Pfleiderer, Summer Parker, Wyatt Parker, Elle Bunn, Lukas Bunn, and Emma Bunn.
Of all of Kitty’s accomplishments, her most proud was her Family, which she cherished. All will remember Kitty for her feistiness, big heart, unrelenting dedication to her family, and her willingness to always lend a helping hand to those in need.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 1:00PM with a 12:00PM memorial service on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at 605 S MacDill Ave in Tampa.
