Kyle William Rockhill, went to Heaven on April 29, 2020 after a courageous two year battle with colon cancer. Born on March 24, 1988, Kyle was the only child of Elizabeth L. (Betsey) Hapner and Paul W. Rockhill (Holly). Kyle also leaves behind on earth his maternal grandmother, Anita T. Gillen; his half-sister, Charis Faria and her family; his step-siblings, Chelsea Rose (Bryan) and family and Chad Linville; his surrogate grandmother, Olga Villada Barnes; aunts, uncles and cousins; his faithful, beloved canine companion, Kylie; and countless friends.
Born and raised in Tampa, Kyle attended Carrollwood Elementary, Adams Middle School, Chamberlain High School and Hillsborough Community College. Kyle enjoyed working as an account executive with Total Quality Logistics.
Waiting to greet Kyle were his maternal grandfathers, William R. Hapner Jr. and William A. Gillen Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Alfred W. Rockhill and Shirley L. Rockhill; his uncle, William R. Hapner III; and his dear friends, Matt Ermish and Cory Ptak.
Kyle had a strong relationship with God, first and foremost. Kyle had a beautiful, contagious smile, was smart, vibrant, stubborn, funny, a dreamer, energetic, courageous and a faithful friend.
Kyle loved animals and all things outdoors, especially fishing and boating. Kyle loved all sports, including the Florida State Seminoles, the Bucs, the Lightning and the Rays. Kyle enjoyed playing hockey from age four until his illness forced him to retire. We miss him and will remember him constantly until we are reunited.
The family wishes to thank Moffitt Cancer Center for the loving, compassionate care they gave Kyle, particularly Dr. Iman Imaniran, PA Kara Miller, nurse Connie Hanlon and the rest of Kyle's oncology team; and Dr. Diane Portman, nurse Amanda Werner and the rest of his supportive care team. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, a memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Humane Society of Tampa Bay or Moffitt Cancer Center Foundation.
