Letty moved to Tampa from Lowell, Massachusetts in July 1987. She was a proud graduate of Greater Lowell Regional Vocational Technical School, Class of 1987. She built a life rooted in faith, family, and dedication, and attended Iglesia Misionera de Tampa.
Throughout her career, Letty worked for IBM, AT&T, and Town & Country Internal Medicine. She was known for her strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help others wherever she was needed.
Letty will always be remembered for her beautiful, radiant smile that could light up any room. She had a way of looking at you with her whole heart, making everyone feel truly seen, valued, and deeply loved. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded by family and friends, simply spending time together and loving on those she cherished most.
She loved the Lord with all her heart, and we find comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in His presence. Letty also had a special love for animals; her gentle and compassionate spirit extended to every creature she met. She found joy in caring for them and showed them the same warmth and tenderness she gave so freely to everyone around her. She especially adored her fur nephew, Jax, and fur nieces, Maddy and Ebony Grace.
Letty was preceded in death by her father, Israel Hernandez; her grandfather, Sixto Torres; her grandfather, Juan Hernandez; her grandmother, Dominga Cruz; and her grandmother, Carmen Alicia.
She is lovingly survived by her mother, Olga I. Hernandez; her brother, Israel Hernandez Jr.; and her sister, Lillian Ellis and her brother-in-love, John Ellis, who she loved very much. She also leaves behind her cherished nieces and nephews: Stephanie Figueroa, Stacey Ann Hernandez, Kimberly Torres Castañon, Ashley Ellis, Jalyssa Ellis, Zachary Ellis, Tayla Ellis, Jaclyn Ellis, and Julian Ellis; along with four great-nephews and four great-nieces. Letty’s love, warmth, and servant’s heart touched countless lives and will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614, on March 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with memorial services beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In honor of Letty’s memory, the family asks that everyone attending wear something red — Letty’s favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Olga I. Hernandez or Lillian Ellis to assist the family with funeral arrangements during this difficult time ($lilliellis8).
Letty will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her radiant smile, the way she loved so big, and the lasting imprint she left on every heart she touched.
