

Lewis Yancy Green, Sr, 86 of Tampa, FL, passed on July 11, 2025, surrounded by family at Advent Hospital. He was born in Seneca, S.C., on December 29, 1938, to the late Nathaniel and Juanita Sizemore Green. After graduating from Blue Ridge High in Seneca, S.C., his family relocated to Greenville, S.C., in 1959.
Yancy was always committed to the workforce, he worked alongside his parents as a cook. Later, he joined the United States Air Force and faithfully served his country for 26 years, receiving various recognitions and medals. He retired in 1989 after serving tours in Germany, South Korea, and England. After retirement from service, he worked as a Security Officer for Tampa Electric.
Yancy attended South Tampa Fellowship and was a member of the Men’s Bible Study. He was a great supporter of Veteran’s Charities.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Cheryl; son, Lewis Jr; step-children, Cara, Chad, and Caleb; siblings, sister Jackie G. Duckett and brothers Agie Green of Greenville and James E. Green of Tampa, FL. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Yancy is preceded in death by his first wife, Nan Hui; his parents; sister Rachel; brother Nathaniel (Little Nay, Jr); niece Alberta; nephew Christopher; and sister-in-law Phanom.
A Celebration of Yancy’s Life will be held on July 22, 2025, at South Tampa Fellowship. There will be a public viewing from 10:00 – 11:00am, a service at 11:00am, and burial at Bushnell National Cemetery to follow.
Yancy will now rest peacefully because he knew “The Lord as His Shepherd.” Our brother, we love you, but our heavenly Father loves you most.
