Ligia Beatriz Cortes

She was born in Colombia on May 27, 1938. Ligia graduated from Remington Institute and received a Commercial Bilingual Secretary degree.

She married Raul Acero in June of 1963. Ligia had a career in oil and gas as a bilingual secretary for Union Carbide, Agapano, Corobastos and Transcanada.

Her passions included talking with her friends and family, over the phone, on speaker phone, and enjoyed sharing her news and experiences on social media. She loved watching entertaining and informative movies, many of them about dogs, and spent hours knitting and crocheting beautiful things especially for new family babies. Ligia was passionate about traveling to visit her family all over the world and this above everything brought out her adorable smile that everyone loved to see.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty Goodsell, and son-in-law, Alan Goodsell; grandchildren, Raul Puentes, Irney Parton and Catalina Puentes, great-grandchildren, Terry and Norman; sisters, Magdalena and Teresa Cortes.

A Celebration of Life for Ligia will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM in Blount & Curry Life Event Center, 605 S MacDill Ave, Tampa, FL 33609.
