Margaret “Peggi” O’Brien Sadler, 68, of Tampa, Florida, passed away on January 5, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. While her final few years were spent in smaller intimate settings, her life and the impact she leaves behind extends well beyond that.
Peggi was born to Sylvester and Carolyn O’Brien on November 26, 1955 in Melbourn, England, becoming the baby of the family. Being part of an Airforce family brought a few moves, with the last one allowing her to establish roots in Tampa. Her formative years were spent with friends at the lake or the beach - garnering her a few more freckles framed by locks of vibrant auburn hair. Her charisma was showcased during her time at Chamberlain High School as a Chiefette. It was there in Tampa where she would meet her husband Gary Sadler who she wed on August 11, 1979.
Peggi pursued higher education at the University of South Florida earning a degree in Early Childhood Education. The love of children also translated more directly to motherhood. Together with Gary, they raised two adoring daughters - Allison and Sara. The love for her kids was evident for all that knew her.
While Peggi’s ultimate focus centered around her family, she took the skills she learned at USF and coupled with them the utmost level of sincerity, compassion and love to touch the lives of thousands of children in the public school system. The bulk of her career was spent at Claywell Elementary School - where she was known for her signature fragrances of vanilla (that often reminded her students of cookies), her impeccable penmanship; compassion that extended beyond the classroom; and often having the last car in the parking lot. Her devotion to her students was always on display, however it was honored when she was named Teacher of the Year. Forever will remain the impact of Mrs. Sadler - felt by students, parents and colleagues alike.
Following retirement, Peggi spent countless hours with two of her favorite people - her grandchildren Emmy and Cole. Their antics brought “Grammie” the biggest laughs and immeasurable joy.
Knowing how Peggi cherished her family, we are finding peace knowing she’s now with her beloved mother.
Peggi is predeceased by her father Sylvester O’Brien, mother Carolyn O’Brien, and nephew Greg O’Brien.
Her legacy and memory is carried on by her husband Gary Sadler; her daughters and son-in-laws Allison & Jonathon Jimmerson and Sara Sadler & Neil Seaver; her grandchildren Emmy & Cole Jimmerson; her brother Dave O’Brien and his wife Becky; her sister Cindy Hopper; her nieces and nephews and their families including Megan Herron (and her daughter Kate), Rich O’Brien (and his son Daniel) and Angela O’Brien; her mother-in-law Mary Sadler. Peggi’s light and memory will also be carried on by her adoring friends and neighbors.
