Mary was born in Ybor City to Antonino and Antonina (née Rinaldo) Caltagirone on February 11,1931. She was their third child.
As a young girl, she met and married Rudy Acosta who preceded her in death. Rudy was a man whom she would love and cherish and with whom she would build a beautiful life for 63 years. She and Rudy had three sons: their eldest, Dr. Anthony Acosta, who predeceased her and Dr. Rudy Acosta (his wife, Melanie) and Dr. David Acosta who survive her. The greatest joy in her life were her four grandchildren: Nicholas Acosta, Kristina Acosta, Jason Acosta (his wife, Shannon) and Ilyse Acosta. Late in her life, she was filled with joy when her two great-grandchildren arrived, Avi and Levi Acosta.
Mary had a very close-knit extended family. She had four siblings. She was predeceased by a brother, Philip, who died as a child. She is survived by three sisters: Carmen Barbiera, Jennie Guerricabeitia and Violet Massari and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was a very self-giving and loving person, always interested in helping others. She was totally devoted to her family. She gave her heart and soul especially to anything that would benefit her children and grandchildren.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. on Monday October 10, 2022 in the Blount & Curry Funeral Home 605 S. MacDill Avenue Tampa, Florida. Interment will immediately follow at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park in Tampa, Florida. In Lieu of Flowers, donations in Mary’s memory can be given to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
