Paul saved my career by transferring me to my final position at DHS. I've always been grateful.

He was a wonderful principle and friend he was always there when i needed to talk. He wasnt just a principle to me he was a friend! 

Paul summa changed my life . He brought me into his office one day and said my Mom was very concerned she called the school because I was skipping class alot and had no desire for school . He had a talk with me and he told me that my future is so important and that I nees to be on the right track if I ever want to graduate and make my life worth something to my self . I then took what he said and put into action I am so grateful for that day. He was the best principal ever and I will never forget him . I am now successfully and thoroughly happy with my life and how much I progressed all because I took advice from a man who was very wise. God has an amazing Angel.

He was more than a principal he was a friend 

Paul and I were friends at Chamberlain High School and graduated together in 1966. He was always so kind to me and always, always so positive! I loved his smile, the sparkle in his eyes and his giving spirit. The world has lost a wonderful man. Heaven has gained an incredible angel. Thanks for the lovely memories, Paul.

I am so sorry to hear of Paul's death.  Please accept my sympathy.  He always made me laugh and that's what I will remember.

You and I had many professional giggles and laughs over the years while you worked with me at Dunedin Middle and then as you moved on to Dunedin High. You were always so much fun!  You will be missed by many....the angels are lucky.

When we first met I was 15, you 13.  Over the many years I knew you to be loving, kind, devoted, loyal and responsible.  Putting your mind to something meant it would get done.   Speaking brilliantly with wisdom on serious subjects or with humor to cheer me up.  
Romping in New York, Tampa and even Tennessee when in your presence there was always an intimate bond.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Paul Summa.  He was a kind, compassionate and caring man.  My husband, Rick, and I shared many laughs with him and his family.  He is the reason I am in education and happy in my position.  We will miss you Paul!

It was an honor and a privilege to have been able to call you my friend as well as my principal. Your guidance for my boys was unwaivering. Because of you, your words of wisdom, your care & love my Jesse continued and graduated and for this I will forever be grateful. You will always be MY Principal, you hired me and 9 years later you are still the best Principal I ever had.  I feel lucky to have been part your life and career.  You will be sorely missed by many, you were a beacon of light in this world. Rest in Peace.

Paul was a great man, wonderful educator and fantastic friend. The field of education and all of the students that were impacted by Paul were truly blessed to have had the connection with this man.  When he became the principal of Dunedin High School, he was truly the breath of fresh air that this school needed.  When he worked to meet the needs of specially challenged students, he did so with his whole heart and being.  Paul will be truly missed by many.  I am priviledged to have known him!

Cousin Paul: I remember you visiting us in NY as little kids and eating grandma's cold pizza for breakfast!  It was the best in little Italy. She made it look like a sleeping cat, nuzzling and warm on her bed.  You, Jane and I were very close in age.  The last time I saw you was when I visited Tampa with Alex when she was a teen. So sad to hear of Mr. Summa's passing. He was such a special person. He left a positive impact on so many kids including mine and I appreciate him for that.  The Savinon family sends their deepest condolences to his family.

I was awoke by a text early this Saturday morning from my oldest daughter Jocelyn (D.H.S Class of 2010) It read " Mom...Mr Summa died" followed by a sad face and an immediate call) Mr Summa was loved by his students and was a blessing to have as a principal at D.H.S. He genuinely loved his job and students and was always available to help in any way he could to ensure that his students succeeded. I sat many times in his office discussing strategies on how we could keep my daughter focused and productive in school. I enjoyed our conversations and felt very comfortable speaking with him because it was obvious from the day we met he was a kind and loving soul. My sincere condolences go out to all that had the opportunity to know and love him. Rest in peace Mr Summa your wonderful memory will live on.

Paul was kind, caring and truly interested in what happened to "his kids". He also had a delightful sense of humor that got my boys through some tough times. I thank him for all he did for the Priest Family and for helping my boys grow into the wonderful young men they are today. Multiply his efforts times countless kids and you can see what a tremendous impact he's had. He was one of a kind and I feel like the world is a little less bright with his passing. Love to his family from someone who always felt Paul was part of our family.

Mr. Summa and I started at Dunedin High the same year. He was the nicest, kindest man who always made time to talk to you. He was beloved by the students, and it was a sad day for me when he retired from DHS. I have missed his presence there every day. He loved his job and made a difference in the lives of many students. Whenever there is a storm, I will always fondly remember his announcements about the "thunder boomers" with a smile in my heart. He is with the angels now.

What a beautiful soul that dedicated his life to influencing the lives of others. Thank you for your efforts and for all you've done for so very, very many.

To my wonderful,sweet, loving cousin who was more than a cousin, he was like a brother I never had.  We laughed, we cried and had a special bond with my sister Bonnie and I. My cousin Paul will be missed by our family! He was always ready to listen, interested in what was going on in everyone's lives, and loved all the kids as they were growing up. As one of the educators in our family he was an inspiration to me, when I talked to him about finishing my education degree. Me Summa was an amazing man he was always so caring and giving to the students snd athletes at DHS and their parents as well. He was one of a kind. The Turgein family will miss this kind man. A man who made a difference in our lives. Rest in peace.. You will always be remembered with love!

Mr. Summa was a wonderful man to work for.  I will really miss him!

We had many good times and good laughs. We had quite the experiences and adventures when working together in Pinellas County ESE and in the SAIL program. We learned to find humor in a lot of difficult and sometimes crazy situations. We stayed in touch after our retirements with the good times and laughter continuing. God rest your soul, Paul. See you on the other side. Condolences to the family and many friends.

Paul was a client of mine and we developed a great friendship over the years. I will miss his wit,humor and kindness. My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.

I worked with Paul off and on for many years.  He was smart, funny, and always a gentleman.  He served the Pinellas School District for a long time and is fondly remembered!
