Rebecca Lawson Abdoney

Rebecca (Ann) Lawson Abdoney, 84, died Wednesday November 8, 2023, at Tampa General Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born in Marion, Ohio on December 14, 1938 to Rosemary and F. Howard Lawson. She graduated from Harding High School in 1956 and then attended dental hygiene school at West Liberty University where she met her husband of 64 years, Dr. Michael O. Abdoney. They moved to Tampa Florida in 1962 where she helped her husband set up his orthodontic practice. She devoted her life to her husband, five children and niece. After raising her children, she went back to college and graduated from the University of Tampa where she majored in accounting and became a CPA. She was a member of Delta Gamma sorority. She was a longtime member of Palma Ceia Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing tennis at Palma Ceia Country Club and loved playing bridge. She was an avid fan of the Rays and Bucs. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Dr. John A. Lawson and Frederick Lawson, and son Mark Allen Abdoney. She is survived by her husband and five children: Jeanette (Jan) Abdoney Kelley (Robert), Allison Abdoney Fee (Donald), Dr. Michael Lawson Abdoney (Deborah), Dr. Mark Allen Abdoney II and Dr. Matthew Frederick Abdoney (Jennifer). She is also survived by her niece Rebecca Benham Reuther (James), fifteen grandchildren, one great grandchild, and one grandniece. A private family service will be held at Palma Ceia Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
