Richard G. Burton Jr, 83, of Tampa, Florida and of Brick, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Born on November 12, 1942, in Newport News, Virginia, he was the son of the late Richard G. Burton, Sr., and Mary Elizabeth Shelton, and brother of the late Robert Burton.
Richard proudly served in the United States Navy, receiving an honorable discharge before beginning a long and successful career in the foodservice industry. Richard, also known by many as Dick, spent 29+ years with Hunt- Wesson Foods/ConAgra, rising to the role of Division Sales Coordinator, where he was widely respected for his leadership and his ability to build strong, motivated sales teams. He later completed his career with Don Pepino/Violet Packing. Richard was a graduate of St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia.
In 1968, Richard married the love of his life, Charlotte A. (Taut) Burton, and together they shared more than five decades of marriage and raising their family. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, his son Kevin Burton and wife Tammi of Brick, NJ, and daughter Cindy Shearer and husband Michael of Tampa FL; his beloved grandchildren, Sydney Burton, Trent Burton and Bella Costa; as well as a number of nieces and nephews, all of whom brought him immense joy.
Richard spent countless hours in ice rinks, theatres, and other venues happily supporting the grandchildren he adored. To them, he was "Pop-Pop"- a nickname filled with warmth and affection. In time, even friends of his grown children came to know him simply as Pop-Pop, a title that fit him perfectly and one that will forever be his. So loved, and truly the greatest Pop-Pop ever, his legacy of love and devotion lives on in every life that he touched.
Richard was a man who never met a stranger. His friendly spirit and happy disposition brightened every room that he entered. He was an avid ice hockey fan, especially devoted to his two favorite teams: the Philadelphia Flyers and the Tampa Bay Lightning. He cherished time spent with his family and loved traveling - particularly enjoying many memorable cruises over the years.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30AM on December 29, 2025 at Visitation Roman Catholic Church, 730 Lynnwood Ave., Brick NJ 08723. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Roslyn, PA.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have eagerly looked forward to His appearing.
