Born on November 27, 1947, in Chungju, South Korea, Seung’s life was a remarkable journey defined by perseverance, compassion, and deep devotion to family. He came to the United States with determination and hope, building a life marked by professional excellence and personal integrity. He and his family settled in Granville, Ohio where he was a dedicated anesthesiologist who served countless patients with skill, calm, and care. Medicine was more than a profession to him—it was a calling rooted in service and responsibility. He was respected by colleagues and deeply trusted by those whose lives he touched in the operating room.
Above all, Seung was a family man. After he retired, he and his wife relocated to Tampa to be near their grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Esther Duckwha Park, whom he lovingly cared for with unwavering devotion throughout her courageous battle with cancer. His compassion during that time reflected the depth of his loyalty and capacity for love. His parents Raehyun Park and Byeongrye Song and his sister Soon Hee Park also precede him in death.
He will be greatly missed and forever loved by his beloved wife, Yon Sun Pennington; his children, Daniel Park (Allison) and Jane Sando (Mark); and his cherished grandchildren: Thaddeus and Adelyn Park, and Claire, James, and Matthew Sando. Being a grandfather brought him immense joy—he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren, laughing with them, encouraging them, and simply being present in their lives. He is also survived by brothers Young Hah, Yoon Hah, Wonha and sister Jung Hee Park.
Seung was known for his passionate spirit and playful personality. He loved golfing, singing karaoke, ballroom dancing, traveling and cheering enthusiastically for Ohio State football. He had a wonderful sense of humor and to those who knew him, he was loyal, devoted, and deeply caring.
The celebration of his life will be conducted on Saturday, February 7th at 5pm at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S MacDill Ave. Tampa, Florida.
