Born in Taylor, Pennsylvania to the late Karl Parker and Marie (Scholla) Thomas, she spent many days and nights in the loving care of her Aunt and Uncle, Christine and Ralph Lynch. Susan graduated from Taylor High School, where she made many lifelong friends including Karen Imdorf Riviello and Virginia Lamper Loughlin.
Susan ventured to Philadelphia to attend the School of Pharmacy at Temple University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1963. She established herself as an active and engaged student-leader. Susan was a member of Rho Chi national pharmacy honor society, Secretary and Vice President of Lambda Kappa Sigma pharmacy sorority, Editor of the Temple Triturate, initiated into the Magnet Honor Society and even appeared in the Mortar and Pestle Players production of Damn Yankees. Susan was crowned the Queen of Temple School of Pharmacy and won the Outstanding Senior Woman Award in 1962 and 1963, respectively.
It was at Temple University that Susan met her husband Frank Sakalosky. They raised two children, Jeanne Sakalosky Jennings and Mark Sakalosky, and had the opportunity to see the United States while living in Dover, DE, Berwyn, PA, Indianapolis, IN, Glendora, CA and Rosemont, PA. Each time the family moved, Susan would commit herself to studying and passing the state pharmacy exam, eventually holding professional licenses in five states - Pennsylvania, Delaware, Indiana, California and Florida. Susan was extremely proud of her long career as a Licensed Pharmacist, practicing her profession for over 40 years.
Susan enjoyed living up-and-down the west coast of Florida before finally settling in Tampa. In her spare time, she enjoyed golfing, gardening, traveling and long walks on the beach. Nothing brought her more joy than sharing time with family and being a loving Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother.
Susan will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jeanne Jennings of Washington, DC, son Mark Sakalosky (and his wife Pamela) of Tampa, granddaughter Madison Sakalosky of Montvale, NJ, grandsons Erick and Kyle Sakalosky of Tampa, sister Jane Hanrahan (and her husband Bill) of Falmouth, MA, nephew Erik Hanrahan (and his wife Pam) of Center Conway, NH, niece Megan Rogers (and her husband Terry) of East Falmouth, MA, niece Christine Schadler (and her husband Jay) of Milford MA, great niece Alexi Przymierski (and her husband Matt) of Franklin, MA, niece Karen L’Heureux Zak of The Villages, and many, many nieces and nephews that she loved so very much.
