

Alonso, Victor “Julian”, 84, of Odessa, passed away Dec. 30, 2015 with his family at his side. Born in Habana, Cuba, he attended the University of Villanova from 1955 to 1960, majoring in business administration. He left all he had and all he knew behind and relocated to Tampa in 1961 with his wife and daughter. A dedicated husband and father, he diligently worked to recreate an abounding new life and home for his family which had grown to include twin sons. He retired from CSX Railroad after 30 years of loyal service. Julian was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Adela Alonso and mother-in-law, Francisca Lopez. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dulce; his children, Vivian Garcia, Jorge (Madeleine) Alonso and Victor (Linda) Alonso; grandchildren, Michelle (Christian) Ciudad Real, Ricky (Malissa) Garcia, Ashley (Matthew) Valdez, David (Alexa) Alonso and Lauren Alonso; great grandchildren Amelia Garcia, Michael Valdez and Caleb Valdez; brother Jesus (Belinda) Alonso; niece, Amanda (Michael) Alvarez and Nephew, Michael Alonso. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Joseph’s North and LifePath Hospice Melech House for their kindness and outstanding care. Graveside services will be held on Monday, Jan. 4, 2015 at Sunset Memory Gardens 1005 US 301, Thonotosassa, FL, at 2:45 p.m. Services entrusted to Gonzalez Funeral Home, 813-931-1833.
