

Born on March 2, 1929, in West Tampa, she was the daughter of Oscar and Maria Disgdiertt. Violet radiated joy and spirit even in her youth. Always with a huge smile on her face and a Coca Cola in her hand! With the love of her life, Mike Alfonso III, they built a beautiful life and raised four beloved children.
Violet was a devoted stay at home mother during her children’s early years, later, she opened a daycare at her home, caring for countless children and loving each of them as if they were her own. She also gave generously of her time as a volunteer at the West Tampa Little League where she supported not only her 4 children, but also many others in her community.
Those who knew Violet will remember her for her love of cooking, playing bingo, the casino, dancing and tending to her yard, as well as her deep devotion to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends and community. Her legacy is one of resilience, kindness, generosity and unconditional love.
Above all, Violet cherished her role as a mother. She poured boundless energy into her children’s lives, cheering them on at baseball games, softball games, basketball games and countless tournaments. She was a familiar and spirited presence in the bleachers proudly calling out, “Ese mi hijo” in moments big and small.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Oscar and Maria Disgdiertt, her cherished daughter, Lisa Alfonso, and her siblings, Oscar “Papito” Disgdiertt, Dalia Rocha and Elvia Thorne.
She is survived by her loving children Susie Rodriguez (Jorge), Rick Alfonso (Nancy) and Tommy Alfonso (Beth); her grandchildren Derrick Alfonso, Rina Alfonso, Kirstin Alfonso and Nicholas Cordero as well as 10 great grandchildren.
The family kindly asks that you, if possible, instead of traditional black attire, wear your most beautiful, bright and colorful clothing as we celebrate the light, joy and beauty she brought into this world.
A Funeral Service will be held at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 7209 North Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa, FL 33614, US, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, 1:00 pm, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
