Willie James Newson

Newson, Willie James “Daddy,” 86, went home to be with the lord on Sept. 6, 2015. He was born on October 1, 1926 in Abbeville, Ala to Saul and Pinkie Bell Newson. He was educated in Dothan, Ala. Willie James served his country in the Korean War and received a honorable discharge on March 25, 1957.

On May 14, 1953 Willie James was joined in holy matrimony to Mary Lou Forrester in Dothan, Ala. Two children were born of this union, Michelle Newson Miles and Paula Newson Collins. Willie James was a devoted husband, father and Christian. He was an excellent example of what a man, father and husband should be. He had a work ethic to be admired and followed. He was a trustee and Deacon for many years until he and his wife moved from Cleveland, Ohio to Florida in 2012. Anyone that knew Willie James knew he loved his family. Willie James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Lou on August 1,2015. He leaves to cherish his memory daughters, Michelle Newson Miles (Adonis); Paula Newson Collins ( Mark – deceased); brother, Samuel Newson; grandson, Erich M. Newson (Nicole); God daughter, May A. Warren; granddaughters, Kristi & Kimberly; great grandchildren, Asia, Aspen and Austin, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held from 10:15 – 11:00am followed by a service at 11am, Wednesday Sept. 16, 2015. Both will be at the Bible Based Fellowship Church, 4811 Ehrlich Rd., Tampa, FL 33624. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Blount & Curry Funeral Home, MacDill Ave., Tampa, 33609.
