

Adam Russell, age 39 of Troy, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at a local hospital after a two year courageous battle with cancer with his loving family and friends by his side. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Troy with Mike McMurtry officiating. Burial will follow at Oenaville Cemetery in Oenaville. The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8:30 PM Friday, May 3, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Troy. Adam was born on August 10, 1973 in Temple, Texas to Theresa Ann Flynn Russell and Leon Russell. He attended schools in Troy and graduated from Troy High School in 1991. Adam attended Temple College and Austin Community College. He married April Anderson on September 23, 1995 in Georgetown. Adam worked for Scott and White SP Lab as a phlebotomist for 3 years and then worked at Wilsonart for 16 ½ years where he was an assembly foreman at the time of his death. Adam was a coach and board member for the Troy Girls Softball Association for many years. He was also a youth director at Eastside Church of Christ in Marlin for many years, and he officiated many weddings for the youth of his church. Adam was very involved with his family and in the youth in his community, and he was a mentor to the kids he knew. Adam will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, April Anderson Russell of Troy; his parents, Terry Garza of Moody and Leon Russell of Cameron; three daughters, Autumn, Alyssa and Aubrey Russell, all of Troy; sisters, Kay McCracken of Gatesville and Shari Russell of Belton; a brother, Lee Russell of Belton, an numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be John Delao, Robbie Hohhertz, Kevin Jarolik, Vince Kasa, Lonzo Logan, Steve McNamara, Wade Parker, Kyle Payne, Ed Provasek and Timmy Saxon. Memorials may be given in Adam's name to the Troy Girls Softball Association or to Eastside Church of Christ of Marlin.
