Alice was born on August 27, 1949, in Galesburg, Illinois, to John Newton and Thelma Marie (McGee) Thurman. Over the years, she lived in several places across Illinois and Texas, including Galesburg, Abingdon, Knoxville, Temple, Belton, DeKalb, and Eddy. She married Charles Roming on May 16, 1995, at Grace Baptist Church in Temple, and they shared many years together until his passing on April 5, 2011.
Alice was a dedicated worker who retired from Pactiv and was well loved by her colleagues. She was known for her generosity and kindness, always welcoming those in need into her home and cherishing family gatherings and visits. Her warm spirit and helpful nature left a lasting impact on those around her.
She is survived by her daughter Peggy Sue Cast of Temple; sons David Thurman and wife Toni of DeKalb, Texas; Everett Wall and wife Amy of Temple; and JR "Lloyd" Wall of Temple. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as her beloved pet Buddy. Additionally, she is survived by her sister Leona Wallace and husband Ronnie of Ocala, Florida. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Linda Boyd, Ruth Kelso, and Millie Bolton; and brothers Ernie Thurman, Rod Thurman, and David Thurman.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with burial to follow at Eddy Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David Thurman, Everett Wall, JR "Lloyd" Wall, Richard Garza, Cory Thurman, Shawn Wall, Cameron Watkins, and Seth Bostick.
Alice’s kindness and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
