Barbara M. McElroy, age 86, of Temple died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in a local hospital. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Luke Catholic Church with Rev. Justin Nguyen as celebrant. Burial will be private. Mrs. McElroy was born on June 26, 1924 in Cranston, Rhode Island to James and Ethel Preston. She was a veteran of the U. S. Army Women's Corps during WWII. She married Hugh M. McElroy in May, 1945. He preceded her in death in 1990. She had been a resident of Temple over 30 years. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Mimms. Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Webb and husband, Gary of Temple, three grandsons, Ronald Caldwell of Denver, Colorado, Ryan Webb and Michael Webb both of Temple, two brothers, David Preston and wife, Tina of Carrollton, James Preston of Weatherford and one sister, Betty Evans of Fort Worth. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
