Bertha M. Brown

Bertha M. Brown, age 95, of Moffat died Sunday, August 10, 2008 at her residence. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 13 at First Baptist Church in Moffat with Rev. Joe Broadway and Rev. Wiley Zinn officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Miss Brown was born July 14, 1913 in Bell County to W. H. "Dobe" Brown and Annie Gertrude (Lawson) Brown. She was a longtime resident of Moffat where she graduated from Moffat High School. She worked as a sales clerk at F. W. Woolworth Co. in Temple for 32 years before her retirement. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moffat where she taught Sunday school and worked in the children's departments. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Herbert Brown. Survivors include her sister, Clara E. Brown of Moffat, one niece, Lydia B. Draeger and husband, Dewayne of The Grove, one nephew, W. Fred Brown and wife, Jane of Temple and numerous great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Moffat, Moffat Community Center or charity of choice. Pallbearers will be Robert Boop, Ernest Forbes, Joe Roy Brown, Weldon Wilkerson, Duke McDonald and Kenny Wood. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Lane, Wade Jackson, Bob Chaffin, Guy Mathews and Harold Finkenbinder.
