Betty Daniel

Betty Lu Boyd Daniel passed away May 6, 2008, in Belton, Tx. Betty was born July 3, 1920 in Alvarado, Tx. She attended Cleburne High School where she met and fell in love with J.H. (Jay) Daniel. After graduation she attended TCU and he went to the University of Texas, but time and distance could not keep them apart and they married on July 30, 1939. They lived in Cleburne and Beaumont before making their home in Temple in 1951, where they owned and operated Daniel's Men's Wear. She devoted her life to her husband and children, making sure their every need was met. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Daniel, and her parents, Lou and Lester Boyd. She is survived by her four daughters, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister. Daughters and their children: Paula and Lyn Cooksey of Castle Rock, CO. and their daughters Holly and Candace; Leslie and Young Scarborough of Kerrville, TX and their sons Daniel and Cullen; Sue and David Flanagan of Ferris, TX and thier children Molly and Reid; Nan and Brad Lollar of Dallas, TX; great-grandchildren; Lindsay Newman, Leslie Heisch, Chase Wernli and Analise Cochran; sister Avis Boyd Queen and husband John of Coleman, TX and their sons John Howard and Will. A graveside service is scheduled for 11 AM Monday, May 12, 2008, at the Floca Pavilion at Hillcrest Cemetery, 1873 N. 1st St. Temple, TX. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, 102 W. Barton, Temple, TX 76501. Services are under the direction of Scanio-Harper Funeral Home.
