
Billy Eugene Vaughan, 82, of Temple died Tuesday, October 1 at his home. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St Luke Catholic Church with Rev. James Ekeocha officiating. Burial will follow at 12 noon at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be held 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Billy was born October 3, 1930 to Scott E. and Persia Vaughan in Waelder, Texas. He graduated from Waelder High School in 1948 and upon graduation he joined the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Juneau during the Korean War. In 1955 he met and married Frances Eppolito. They moved to Houston where he worked for the next 35 years for the Phillips Petroleum Company. He and Frances were married for 58 years. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joy, Mary, Evelyn, and Geraldine and by his brothers, Pellum, Gerald, Scott, Earl, and Claborne. Surviving loved ones include his wife Frances of Temple; daughter Liz Maxfield and husband Matt of Harker Heights, TX; two grandchildren, Brett Maxfield and Macie Maxfield. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church, 2807 Oakdale Drive, Temple, Texas 76502 or to Odyssey Hospice 2626 S. 37th Street, Temple, Texas 76504 Temple.
