
Billy "Jack" Johnston Sr., age 91, of Temple, TX passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015 at his residence. He was born on January 19, 1924 in Richland, TX the son of Pete and Lyndall Johnston. Jack served his country in the United States Marine Corps during WWII and in the United States Army during the Korean War. On August 28, 1943 in Papillion, Nebraska he married Lois Showalter. Jack worked as a building supervisor for General Telephone retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Pioneer Club, the Grey Wolves Hiking Club, past Vice President of the Senior Center, and a member of Taylor's Valley Baptist Church in Temple. Jack also volunteered for the VA in Kerrville and Temple and for Meals on Wheels. He is survived by his wife Lois of Temple, a sister JoAnn Morris of Carrollton, TX, sons; B.J. Johnston and wife Judy of Sheridan, AR, Don Johnston of Anna, TX, and Richard Johnston and wife Tommie of Temple, TX, grandsons; James, Alan, Joshua, Christopher, and David, a granddaughter Christa, 7 great-grandsons, and 3 great-granddaughters. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at 10am at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home 3110 Airport Rd. Temple, TX. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Alzheimer's Association 6605 Sanger Ave #1 Waco, TX 76710 would be appreciated.
