Bobbye J. Kuban

Bobbye J. Kuban, age 79, of Temple died Saturday, August 23, 2008 in a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 27, at First Christian Church in Temple with Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home. Mrs. Kuban was born August 23, 1929 in Antlers, Oklahoma to Robert Mitchell and Clara (Grissom) Johnson. She was reared and educated in Altus, Oklahoma and graduated from Altus High School in 1947. She married Frank T. Kuban on February 20, 1949 in Altus. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2008. She went to nursing school at Scott & White Hospital and was a graduate of University of Mary Hardin-Baylor with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught school in Rogers and Temple ISD where she retired. She was a member of First Christian Church in Temple where she was Elder Emeritus and past president of the DWF. She was also a special member of the Ruth Circle at the church. She was a member of City Federation of Women's Club of Temple and Texas State Teachers Association where she was a past officer. Survivors include two sons, Greg Kuban of Temple, Robert Kuban and wife, Kathy of Nacogdoches and one daughter, Melissa Cain and husband, Dennis of Rockwall. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Jennifer Kuban of Beverly Hills, California, Robert Kuban, Jr. and wife, Cortney of Nacogdoches, Matt Kuban, of Nacogdoches, Landon, Austin and Morgan Cain all of Rockwall and one great-granddaughter, Olivia Kuban-Barron of Beverly Hills, California. Also, one brother-in-law, Fred Kuban and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Kuban both of Temple survive. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 300 N. 5th St., Temple, TX 76501. Pallbearers will be Dal Coleman, Kenny Coleman, Howell Coleman, David Vick, Wes Morris and John Troy. Honorary pallbearer is Fred Kuban.
